Turning off the lights as you leave a room, Closing the Door does in fact help with the heating and cooling bill. My mother would always open the oven door after useing it to cook to help heat the kitchen after turning it off, during the winter months. You have already paid for the heat in the oven...

Don't run the water while you brush your teeth.
Hang your clothes up after "school" so they stay fresh.
Keep the refrig.door closed.
Put the left overs in the refrig.and EAT them!
Dinner...get all you want, but want all you get.
Turn EVERYTHING off when you leave the house.
Turn the water faucets off ALL the way.
SHUT THE DOOR!!TURN OFF THOSE LIGHTS!!
And now I sound like my Mother.LOL

We don't usually have our heater going unless it gets reallllllly cold, we use blankets. If you can keep doors closed and use oven heat after cooking, the house should stay warm. Always check your weather stripping and replace when necessary. Remember, you live in the desert and it never rains (enough) here and things dry up and crack(weather stripping included). We try and cook meals for a week in 1 day so the rest of the week we only need to use the microwave to warm it up. If you can't do that, then use your crockpot. In the winter we have lots of soup so the crockpot comes in very handy.

If it's yellow let it mellow. If it's brown flush it down. Saves water.

The biggest savings we put into use at our house was going on the Time Advantage Plan with APS. Rates are cheaper between 9pm and 9 am, so at those times there's no showers, laundry, dishwasher etc. and the A/C is set higher. We saved over $500.00 in 1 year utilizing it. Those with families or different schedules may not find it useful however or find it hard to curb power use during those times.

When I bought our house I had our old A/C unit taken out and a newer high efficiency unit installed. That alone nearly slashed our energy use in half. We use a setback thermostat that adjusts the temp. when we're not at home. No heat is turned on 'til the temp falls to 65 degrees inside, period.

Dual, or even triple-pane windows save a bundle as well and will increase the value of your house. Payback time is just a few years.

We rarely if ever use our oven during the summer months. Doesn't make much sense to crank it up when your A/C is working overtime on a 115 degree day to keep your house cooled down.

Close the fridge door, for every 1 second it's open it needs 1 minute of run time to cool back down.

I changed nearly every light bulb in the house to CFL's. They last many years and use only about 1/3 the normal electricity required for an incandescent bulb. This was a huge savings as well.

Mostly it's just common sense........

I actually use old socks with holes in them for cleaning. Saves on paper towels.

i remember having to hang clothes out on the clothes line back in the day.To save money on our electric bill I now have a clothes line in my back yard, it only takes a couple of hours out in this heat and they are dry.
